Steps to Build a New Website
Before you begin using this starter site, ensure you have everything you need, including a brand style guide, brand assets, and images.
- Before uploading any images, Rename, Resize and Optimise. To bulk resize, you can use https://imageresizer.com/bulk-resize
- Use Relative Units (EM, REM, %, VW and VH), not pixels.
- If the branding you receive uses pixels for typography and spacing, use this calculator to get the correct values to use: https://codebeautify.org/rem-to-point-converter
- As Kadence has CSS clamp: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/clamp – use XXS, XS, SM, MD, LG, XL, XXL, 3XL, 4XL or 5XL, not pixels for defaults.
Once you are sure you have all that you need to begin, follow these steps
- Go to the site notes accordion below to edit or add information for your new build.
- Go to the Theme customiser to add branding for typography, colour palette, theme buttons, and other site-wide settings.
- Visually test the customiser settings are correct using the Customiser Settings Accordion below.
- Setup defaults Using the Defaults Section Below (Accordion 3)
- If you need a block that does not have a default option, create 1 version and add it to this page to copy and page across the website.
- Responsive test this page to check the defaults – use WordPress view (top right of this page) and also test using a responsive testing tool
